Protestant parish of Dorfmark – working with and in a lively community
The parish of Dorfmark belongs to the Protestant Lutheran Church of Hanover. We are around 2,200 Christians. Our parish is characterised by a very lively community life, our motto is: “Giving meaning and soul to the community” From the women’s circle to several children’s and youth groups and modern church services, many traditional church activities take place. Our church choir performs regularly and our trombone choir has no shortage of new members. We use our St Martin’s Church from 1708, our parish hall and our rectory for our congregation.

Dorfmark is located in the Lüneburg Heath, halfway between Hamburg, Bremen and Hanover. This region is a well-known holiday destination, with many tourists visiting every year for the heather blossom in August and September. The Böhme flows through Dorfmark and canoe tours can be undertaken on this small river. There is also a natural outdoor pool in an artificial lake in the village. The heath itself is ideal for carriage rides and hiking excursions. There are various parks near Dorfmark: the amusement park “Heide Park” with spectacular roller coasters or the “Serengeti Park” with 1,500 exotic animals or a “Centre Park” with a large swimming area. Dorfmark itself is a small village with around 3,000 inhabitants, a supermarket, a railway connection and shops for everyday needs. It takes around 50 minutes to get to the centre of Hanover by regional train. There you will find everything you need for a big city, from Apple stores to Starbucks and Zara.

The accommodation is in the rectory in Dorfmark. The vicarage was built in 1648 and has been inhabited by the pastor and his family since then. The house was completely renovated in 2020 and has modern standards. A large common room serves as a bedroom, next to it there is a well-equipped kitchen and toilets. There is an external washing machine and showers. Other rooms are located in the community centre.

The working hours will involve being active in the grounds around the rectory. From the fence to the trees to the house itself, the rectory and its grounds are listed buildings. The fence around the grounds is to be repaired under professional supervision.
